Abraham was enrolled in Centerville City Schools about to enter the fourth grade at Driscoll Elementary School, said district spokeswoman Sarah Swan.
“It is always tragic when a child passes away. Our thoughts and prayers are with Bryson’s family and friends, and we have support in place for any of our students and staff members who need it,” she said.
The crash happened just after 3 p.m. Tuesday, Centerville Police officer John Davis said.
A medium-duty construction delivery vehicle was driving north in the 800 block of South Main Street when it fatally struck the pedestrian, later identified as Abraham.
The boy was crossing the street from the median and as he walked into the northbound lanes he was hit by the 2002 Peterbilt semi tractor, according to a Centerville Police Department crash report.
The truck driver, a 40-year-old Hillsboro man, remained on scene and was cooperating with police, according to Davis.
The crash closed South Main Street as crews investigated and reconstructed the crash. Centerville police posted at 6:51 p.m. on social media the street had reopened.
